How To Hang Your Map

Our maps come packaged with hardware so that you can hang your map on a wood or drywall wall. Here are the steps to getting your map up so you can display your adventures for everyone to admire!

If you need to hang your map on another type of wall, please consult your hardware store and follow the corresponding hardware instructions.

01

What you'll need

We've provided the nails! You'll also need these for a successful installation:

  • Hammer
  • Pencil
  • Ruler or Tape Measure
  • Level or Laser Level
02

Measure between hangers

Your map comes with two sawtooth hangers pre-installed. Measure between the mid-points of each of these, as this is the distance you'll place your nails. Note this distance as Distance A. Write it down somewhere if it helps you remember!

03

Mark your nail spacing

Depending on where you want your map placed, you need to mark the distance you just measured on the wall. The dashed blue line represents where your map will eventually hang, so you can visualize this a little better.

It may be helpful to have a friend help you by holding the map up on the wall so you know where you want it to be. When making your marks, keep in mind that the nails will be placed approximately 7/8" below where the top of your map will go: Distance B. (You'll mark this in the next step)

04

Mark your nail height

Use a level to make sure your 2 nails create a level line, and ultimately a level map. Make a small mark across each of your lines from the last step. This little "+" sign is where you'll put your nails!

05

Hammer in your nails

Now is the fun part! Start swinging that hammer (just don't get too excited and hit your fingers)! Hammer in the nails right on the "+" marks from the last step. A slight downward angle is great, but straight in will work too (just not a downward angle, as you don't want the weight of your map to pull them out by accident. Leave the nail heads protruding by about 1/4" or so - just enough that the sawtooth hangers will be able to rest on them.

06

Hang your map!

The last step: hang that beauty up! Simply place the sawtooth hangers onto the nails you just expertly hammered in. Stand back, admire, and put some pins in that thing already!
